Glossy Accents & Nail Polish "Enamel Dots"

Hi again, friends!  Mynn here and I'm super excited to be introducing one last tutorial for making your own enamel dots.  This time Emily is sharing with us how to make them using Glossy Accents and nail polish.  We have loved all the entries, and we hope you've found our money saving tutorials helpful!  Now, all I have left to say is TAKE IT AWAY EMILY!

We've got one more technique to show you this month for making your own enamel dots. This one takes only about a minute of hands-on time!

Squeeze out some dots of Glossy accents onto either waxed paper or a nonstick craft mat.

You can make them whatever size you like, I tend to prefer them smaller. Let dry completely.

Now, go dig through your nail polish stash and start trying out some different colors. I think the bright, bold colors tend to look better, but just try everything you've got and see what appeals to you. That's what I did! If you color "outside the lines" a bit it's no big deal. You can trim off any excess once you peel them off the mat.

These were my best color options. You may want to go over them with a second coat if the first coat didn't cover well. Once they are dry, just peel them off the mat or waxed paper and they're ready! I use a dot of Glossy Accents on the back side to glue them onto my cards. These dots are a bit flatter than store bought enamel dots which I appreciate for their mail-friendliness!

If you'd like to see the card I made using this technique, come visit me on my blog!

Creating Enamel Dots With Perler Beads

Hi, friends!  It's Mynn here introducing another tutorial on how to create your own enamel dots!  This week, we've got Dana sharing how to make enamel dots by melting Perler beads.  You can find the full tutorial with LOTS of picture on Dana's blog HERE.  Take it away, Dana!

Hey peeps.  I have been promising for some time now to show you how to make DIY enamel dots so here it is.

Go ahead and preheat your oven to 300 degrees.  My oven usually take a few minutes to warm up so this gives me time to get my colors separated and one to my baking sheet.

Speaking of baking sheet, make sure to over it with parchment paper.  This is a must unless you want to ruin your baking sheet.  So I started out lining up a few rows of the beads to keep the colors in groups.

Set your timer for 30 minutes.  This is an estimated time since it will depend on your oven.  Some of the colors take a little longer than others so you will have to keep an eye on the beads.  But for the most part, all of them need at least 30 minutes.

Here they are fresh from the oven. I have mixed them around to see if any had stuck to the paper.  Nope, we are good.   That was super easy right?

I hope you gained some information that can get you started making your own enamel dots.  Oh before I forget, I use glossy accents to attach the dots to my projects.  I know there are plenty of ways to glue these dots down but glossy accents just seems to be my go to.

Hugs and love~

Creating Enamel Dots With Enamel Accents

Hi, all!  Mynn here!  I hope you're enjoying using enamel dots this month with us!!!  We've shared one tutorial on how to make your own with colored glue sticks, and today we have DT member Toni sharing how to create your own enamel dots using alcohol ink, Enamel Accents, and white glue!    Take it away, Toni!
Thanks, Mynn!  Perhaps like some of you I am on a budget and really try to make my craft dollars count.  Rather than buying a bunch of dots in different colors, I prefer to custom color my dots as I go along.  Check out my blog, Frankie Helps Craft, where I show you the results of coloring your own Enamel Accent or white glue dots using alcohol ink.

EXTRA TIP:  My DT teamie, Emily, colored her Enamel Dots with fingernail polish.  Genius!  I love the idea of my toes matching my cards, don't you?!

March Challenge: Use Enamel Dots

Hi, all!  It's time for another new monthly challenge here at House of Cards!  We loved all the beautiful creations from last month and we cannot wait to see what you do with this month's challenge which is....

To use this supply~

We have TONS of information for you this month, including a video tutorial in this post as well as two more tutorials shared later on in the month!  All of these tutorials will share ways that you can MAKE your own enamel dots for cheaper than buying them, should you be as cheap thrifty as some of us are OR in case you can't find enamel dots in your neck of the woods!  I know these ideas have changed my spending patterns!  We hope they'll inspired you, as well!

We also have a fabulous guest designer joining us this month!
It's Lisa from LJ Creations!

Take a look at her card~

And here's some inspiration from challenge owner Mynn~

Next up, we have DT member Lilian here for a video tutorial!
She's sharing how to make enamel dots using colored hot glue sticks!

Find these glue sticks at:
AMAZON | GLU*STIX | HOBBY LOBBY | JOANN | ORIENTAL TRADING | WAL-MART

If you can't find these glue sticks in your country, DT member Rocky suggested using plain glue sticks and then dusting them with mica powder.  You can also use the clear glue sticks and paint the bottom of them as well!

Here's one of the card Lilian made with these dots~

WE WILL BE SHARING MORE IDEAS ON HOW TO SAVE MONEY AND MAKE YOUR OWN ENAMEL DOTS USING OTHER PRODUCTS LATER ON DURING THE MONTH, SO STAY TUNED, CRAFTY FRIENDS!

And check out the other DT members for more inspiration~

The DT cards will be showcased here throughout the month every Monday!

Thanks for popping over today, friends!  Come back on Monday for MORE inspiration from this very talented Design Team!  We hope you join in the fun, too--please check out our House Rules HERE before linking up!  HUGS and happy stamping to you all!  Can't wait to see your creations!
